Berlin police said the suspect of the deadly Pride attack that left one person dead and 29 injured was shot and killed during a confrontation in a suburb of the city, ending a nearly 24‑hour search.
The man, identified as Abdul Ballout, holds German citizenship and has Lebanese heritage.
Authorities said Ballout had previously attempted to join the Islamic State organization, according to prosecutors.
Ballout is also alleged to have driven a minivan into a crowd in the hours before a major LGBTQ Pride gathering in central Berlin, causing the fatality and numerous injuries.
