CBI registers an FIR in death of former manager Disha Salian after Bombay High Court orders thorough probe

The Central Bureau of Investigation, Monday morning, filed an official first information report in the case of Disha Salian, a former manager for late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, after the Bombay High Court ordered the agency to probe the circumstances of her 2020 death.^[1][2][3]

In a recent hearing, a division bench of Justice Bharti‑Dangre and Justice Manjusha Deshpande flagged that the earlier classification of Salian’s death as merely an accidental death report (ADR) did not reflect the allegations raised by her family, who contend that she was murdered. The bench also noted that the post‑mortem report and the ADR had not been provided to the family even five years after her death.^[1]

Family provides details to investigators

Satish Salian, Salian’s father, told investigators that he had supplied the CBI with the facts surrounding his daughter’s demise and named several individuals he wanted examined, including Aditya, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea and certain bodyguards. He said, “I stated the facts exactly as they were; I told them everything that happened to my daughter. I listed all the names … they noted everything down. They said they would take action based on what I told them; the proceedings would begin in a few days.”^[1]

Sushant’s sister voices hope

Shweta Singh‑Kirti, the sister of the late actor, posted a video of herself on social media, saying that truth “can be suppressed for some time, troubled, but it cannot be defeated.” She welcomed the CBI’s inquiry into Salian’s death, noting it offered hope to the actor’s fan community.^[1]

The CBI has yet to schedule its preliminary hearing, but a fresh FIR is expected to unlock all evidence and documentation that remained sealed during the initial investigation. If the probe confirms signs of foul play, it could lead to criminal charges against the identified suspects.^[1]
